Combining Proximal and Remote Water Stress Indicators to Optimize Pistachio Water Use

The California pistachio industry faces unprecedented challenges due to water scarcity. This makes it critical to advance precise and efficient irrigation management strategies. This project aims to determine robust plant-based water stress indicators in pistachio to maximize productivity. We are using proximate sensing techniques along with remote sensing techniques. This approach provides both spatial and temporal information on tree water stress, which is necessary for efficient irrigation management.
